what makes an illustrator?

the simple answer is surely – everything ...

" I am frequently astonished, and grateful, that after all these years I am still engaged in the process of image-making. Along the way a few desperate measures and pleasing distractions have grabbed my attention – some developed into ongoing and fulfilling accompaniment; those that didn't, nevertheless became intrinsically absorbed into the creative whole. The trick lies in observing, then compiling that disparate jumble into coherent expression – whilst keeping the customer satisfied."
